Day 5 (09/15/17): less diarrhea, more play

Terra woke me up at 4 am to squirt more poop, and then at 8 am. She is still drinking water, has a good appetite, and is getting steadily more playful. This morning she tried hard to get the Welshie to play but lost confidence when the other would respond.

We did a training session on eye contact and touching the target stick, which I used to direct her to go in a circle around me to change up the picture. Then she laid down and started to fall back asleep. Brain full.

She went into her crate while I went out with the Welshie. Another poop squirt when let out at 2 pm.

Second training session: introduced a mat (flat crate pad) and clicked for orienting to it, sniffing it, or stepping on it. Then we played with a bunny fur toy on a rope for a few minutes. She was more willing to (slowly) follow it and pick it up. She was hilariously bent on kill-shaking it. Then she passed out in the kitchen while I trained and played vigorously with Chimera.

Back in the crate while everyone napped.

Poop squirt at 6 pm.

Played baby-tug with a fleece and bunny fur toy. I'm so happy to play tug with her! I would only put a small amount of pressure on the toy, then let her win, and praise and pet her for holding onto the toy.

Third training session: target stick again. Toward the end, I held my closed hand with treats at her nose level and presented the target with the other hand. She would lick and nose at my fist, then choose to bop the target instead. YES

Another mat session - she's still just checking out the mat rather than going to it intentionally to earn a click.

Chimera and Terra are both practicing taking turns with treats, toys, and training time.

She ate a bigger dinner portion after all that play.

The crown jewel of the day was that she finally figured out how to play with the Welshie! They spent the evening wrestling and biting and running back and forth in the tiny house. (Cai wisely hid in his crate.)

One last poop squirt at 10:30 pm. Then she decided that she would rather stay in the barn and chew on wood chips than come in the house - which is great, because yay independence! But also it's time for bed. So I put her leash and collar on, clicked and treated for walking with me around the barn, and then led her into the house.
